Toolbar


The main toolbar will help you access the most common actions of Q-Word. Toolbar content depends on the current application mode. A drop box in the toolbar enables to change the mode:

A small description of the corresponding action is given in the status bar when hovering a button with the mouse.

Toolbar buttons in creation mode




Click this button to increase the zoom the grid is displayed.

Click this button to decrease the zoom the grid is displayed.

Click this button to access the dialog enabling to change the width and height of the grid.

Click this button to cancel the last operation done on the grid.

Click this button to redo the last cancelled operation.

Click this button to enable or disable the grid coloration. When activated, each grid case background is updated in order to indicate if the letter belongs to an unknown word or not
  • BLUE: This letter belongs to an incomplete word; at least one dictionary entry exists to complete it.
  • GREEN: This letter belongs to a complete word; this word exists in the dictionary.
  • RED: This letter belongs to an incomplete word; no possibility exists to complete it
  • ORANGE: This letter belongs to a complete word; this word is not in the dictionary.

Toolbar buttons in solving mode




Click this button to increase the zoom the grid is displayed.

Click this button to decrease the zoom the grid is displayed.

Click this button in order to check if the selected letter in the grid is correct. If the letter is not correct, the corresponding case will be tagged with a red cross.

Click this button in order to check if the selected word in the grid is correct. Each case corresponding to an incorrect letter will be tagged with a red cross.

Click this button in order to check the whole grid. A red cross will be painted in each case of the grid with an incorrect letter.
When you modify a letter that has already been checked, the red cross is removed but the letter is displayed in grey.
Click this button in order to reveal the selected letter. If it is not correct, the case will be overwritten with the correct answer in red.

Click this button in order to reveal the selected word. Each case of the word corresponding to an incorrect letter will be revealed and displayed in red.

Click this button in order to reveal the whole grid. Each case corresponding to an incorrect letter will be revealed and displayed in red.

Click this button in order to reveal all incorrect letters in the grid. Each case corresponding to an incorrect letter will be revealed and displayed in red. In the opposite of the Reveal All button, cases left blank are not revealed.
It is not possible to modify a letter that has been revealed. However revealed letter will be removed when you clear all your grid content: Menu > Solution > Clear Grid
